Rosacea is sometimes called adult acne because it is causes pimples and redness to appear on your face. This skin disease can be embarrassing and uncomfortable. More importantly, if left untreated, it may lead to other health problems. What are the symptoms of rosacea, what causes it, and how can you treat it?

Rosacea Symptoms

Rosacea is often intermittent, coming and going. Symptoms of rosacea may include pimples on the cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin. Your face may appear flushed. You may experience stinging or burning facial skin, especially if you apply medicines or lotions. Tiny, red veins that look like spider webs may appear and your face may feel sunburned, dry, or sensitive. Eyes can become red and swollen and may feel dry or burn. Vision may become blurry. Serious eye problems can result if rosacea is not treated.

Advanced rosacea, known as rhinophyma, can cause knobby bumps on your nose and cheeks, or give your face a swollen, waxy appearance. These changes may be permanent if the condition is allowed to progress to this point.

What Causes Rosacea?

Experts have not yet pinpointed the cause of rosacea. They do know that people who tend to blush easily or who have fair skin are more likely to experience the problem. Rosacea also seems to run in families.

Rosacea may flare up when the blood vessels in the face expand, causing redness. Things that instigate rosacea are known as triggers. Some common triggers include stress, hot weather, sun and wind exposure, alcohol, spicy food, and hot baths. Temperatures that change rapidly from hot to cold or vice versa can also trigger rosacea.

Treatment of Rosacea

There is no cure for rosacea. There are, however, effective treatments, which usually allow you to keep the symptoms under control and prevent the disease from worsening. Some treatment options are:

* Antibiotics in pill or cream form. Patience is required, because it may take a month or longer for the antibiotics to have an effect.

* Stronger medications may be used, including Accutane or Retin-A.

* Some severe cases are treated with laser surgery, cryosurgery, or dermabrasion.

If you are suffering from rosacea, explore options for minimizing rosacea flare-ups and treatment alternatives. If your healthcare provider does prescribe medications, you may b e able to purchase them more economically if you use an online pharmacy prescription. A generic online pharmacy is often able to fill your prescriptions for a much lower price than traditional pharmacies.

Skin care is perhaps one of the most important beauty treatments that you will do on a regular basis. There are lots of different skin care products out there, and you want to keep yourself looking great all the time by using the correct ones at the right times. Let’s take a look at some key skin care tips to help you get the most out of the use of these products. From experience working at a skin care testing centre, the author can confirm that the best way to look after your skin is using these following simple tips.

Cleanse

Keep your skin clean. You need to use a good cleaning product that doesn’t dry your skin out too much, but also gets good results. You should exfoliate, but no more than a couple of times a week as this is quite a harsh treatment for your skin and you certainly don’t want to do this everyday. Keep your face clean, but don’t wash it more that twice a day as you will remove all of the natural oils and that will make it look worse.

Tone

You should use a toner on your skin. This will keep you skin looking soft and supple, and help with the cleaning process. Nothing fancy is needed here, just a good toning product and some time and care. Don’t skip this important step in skin care.

Moisturize

To remain soft, supple and healthy you need to keep your skin well moisturized. This means finding a moisturizer that you like for it’s level of moisturization, smell and feel. This is a personal decision so you need to try out a few products to find the one that works best for you.

And there you have it. These three, very simple skin care tips are all you need to keep your skin looking great all the time. If you get the basics like this right, then anything else you do to make yourself look great will be very easy.

Supplying yourself with the right nutrients is an essential aspect for developing and maintaining firm skin. There are also topical applications that contain ingredients that can help with skin firming, but the real ground work is done from the inside out.

So what nutrients do I need for skin firming?
Amino acids are among the most important of nutrients for skin firming. Collagen and elastin are both proteins, and proteins are made up of amino acids. Collagen is very important because it is the connective tissue that holds skin (and everything else in the body) firmly together. Elastin is the other important component, providing the suppleness and elasticity of skin.

Collagen Nutrition for Skin Firming
Collagen is mainly comprised of three different amino acids – gylcine, lysine and proline. Lysine is an essential amino acid that we need to consume from a food source, whereas gylcine and proline are considered non-essential amino acids because they are made naturally in the body. However, all non-essential amino acids are made from the essential amino acids – so go figure!

I would actually recommend using whey protein powder, it provides an excellent profile of all essential amino acids. It also contains many of the non-essential amino acids such as lysine and proline. So rest assured, whey protein powder will definitively provide you with all the collagen building amino acids you need.

There is also another essential nutrient for creating collagen, and that is vitamin C. Vitamin C acts as a metabolizer for proline and gylcine, turning them into a different form that bonds with glycine to make collagen. So, without vitamin C, collagen simply wouldn’t happen. Great food sources of vitamin C include broccoli, oranges, kiwis, blackberries and tomatoes.

Elastin Nutrition for Skin Firming
Elastin is primarily made up of four amino acids – gylcine, alanine, proline and valine. Whey protein powder is also a great source of these amino acids. So whey protein powder is definitively the way to go, when it comes to elastin and collagen.

Topical Applications
Some skin firming products such as skin firming creams and skin firming lotions contain elastin and collagen. However, there is no evidence that elastin and collagen are absorbed through the skin. The only known method of creating collagen and elastin is from the inside out by eating food sources of amino acids.

A Smoothie for Skin Firming
1 cup of whey protein powder
1 cup of ice cubes
1/2 cup of strawberries
1/2 cup of blackberries
16 oz of milk (fat % of your choice)

Put all the ingredients into your blender and blend! This smoothie will provide you with all the needed amino acids and vitamin C benefits for firm skin.
