When it comes to time to get rid of cellulite on the thighs and butt, women are bombarded with a range of different treatments. Some of the stranger ones include tights and shoes that are somehow designed to reduce the condition’s appearance. But what about the more popular ones like anti cellulite lotions and massages? These remedies claim to be able to reduce the look of cellulite from being 60 to 70 percent but experts can be divided on whether they actually work or not.

Last year in the US, over $100 million was spent on cellulite creams. This popular remedy can sometimes be marketed as causing the cellulite fat to be liquefied under the skin. But as some doctors point out that there is no way that cream applied to the outer skin can in anyway affect the cellulite fat inside the body. Recently, Estee Lauder in the United Kingdom was criticized by a government body for misleading marketing claims about their cellulite lotion. The company responded by saying that their customers realized that the cream worked by moisturizing and toning the skin, and that it in no way could target the cellulite fat itself. It also mentioned that 83 per cent of their customers where happy with how the lotion helped reduce the look of their cellulite.

Another heavily marketed anti cellulite treatment is massage. Often a specifically designed anti-cellulite device is used to make the massage more efficient and effective. But again, certain experts are uncertain about the supposed results from this treatment. Theoretically, the massage helps smooth the skin, soften the harden tissue and help push toxins from the fat cells. Machines that are used for cellulite massage can also combine other therapies like laser and radio wave therapy. While certain doctors may criticize this technique, massage has good anecdotal evidence from the thousands of women that are treated with it every year.

One remedy that you should be very cautious of is liposuction. Many experts agree that this plastic surgery technique can actually make cellulite look even more severe. If you are thinking of using liposuction to get rid of cellulite then you should do more investigation and speak to a qualified plastic surgeon. It may also be an idea to second opinion just to be sure.
